Sintesy Studio is a specialist distributor offering consulting, design and integration services for building technology, based in Borgomanero, in the province of Novara, Italy. It works alongside architects, engineers and installers as the single technical point of contact.

In a traditional system every switch is physically wired to the load it turns on: changing a function means changing cables. In a KNX system controls and loads talk over a dedicated bus, and what a button does is decided in software. In practice the system can be changed without building work, and it can grow over time. KNX is an open standard, published as ISO/IEC 14543: devices from different manufacturers work together and the installation is not tied to a single supplier.

There is no price per square metre that means anything. Cost depends on how many functions you want to govern and how many points are needed: the number of controlled loads, the visible terminals (switches, thermostats, displays) and the level of supervision are the three items that actually weigh. With our method the value is measurable and comparable: you know what you are buying, item by item, and offers can be put side by side.

We work with professionals and companies to put together the team the project needs, so the client gets a service from A to Z: design, product selection, supply, site work, programming and commissioning. The client has one technical point of contact and does not have to hold the pieces together.

Yes, with limits that should be stated up front. If the conduits are free and the boxes reachable, a KNX bus can be run through the whole house. If they are not, we work zone by zone: we automate the panel and the points the cable already reaches, and use radio devices integrated into the same system for the rest. A site survey exists precisely to establish which of the two routes is viable, before promising anything.

It means the house reaches the right condition without anyone having to command it. Room temperature follows the hours and actual use; light changes intensity and tone through the day; shading keeps the summer sun out and lets the winter sun in; ventilation keeps the air right. These are functions you notice when they are missing, not when they are there.

As early as possible, ideally while the architect is still settling the plans. The choices that cost least and are worth most are the provisions: where cables run, where panels and racks sit, how many points each room needs. Coming in after the chases means working on decisions already made. We still step into a project already under way, saying clearly what can no longer be recovered.

KNX stays the backbone of the building; other systems are integrated through gateways or at the supervision layer.

Yes, both are services we follow directly. On lighting we work on the lighting design together with the architect: quantity and quality of light room by room, colour temperature, colour rendering, glare control, and the choice of fixtures and dimmable drivers that actually hold the scenes. On audio we follow multiroom systems and dedicated rooms: speaker placement and type, amplification, sources and integration into the supervision system. In both cases we guide the client towards the products best suited to the project and the budget, rather than leaving them in front of a catalogue.

As-built electrical and panel drawings, the list of configured functions, the ETS project of the KNX installation, supervision credentials and configuration, a user manual for the client and the commissioning report. The ETS project belongs to the client: it is what anyone will need to work on the system in the years ahead, including people who are not us.
